MAKING THE MOST OF A FLAT WIND CHOPPED MORNING

CATALINA CLASSIC PADDLE BOARD RACE 2010

I recently had the opportunity to attended and photograph the Catalina Classic Paddle Board Race. It's a 32 mile race over open ocean from Catalina Island to the Manhattan Beach Pier.  It was a great time and I met a lot of wonderful people.  There is a great sense of community among the paddle boarding community.  

Thanks to Kyle Daniels for hooking me up, and Bob Meistrell for ferrying by butt to Catalina and back.  

SANTA MONICA PIER PADDLE BOARD RACE

I RECENTLY WENT TO THE SANTA MONICA PIER PADDLE RACE.  DESPITE THE GREY SKIES/FLAT LIGHT I TRIED TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT.  LOOKS A BIT MORE MOODY THAN ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM A SUMMER PADDLE BOARD RACE.  EVEN WITH THE OVERCAST MORNING EVERYONE SEEMED TO REALLY ENJOY THEMSELVES AND IT WAS A BIG EVENT.  I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEARS WHERE I'LL BE SHOOTING FROM THE WATER.

SACRED CRAFT SURF EXPO VENTURA CA APRIL 2010

Below are some pictures from the Sacred Craft Surf Expo that was in Ventura CA this last April.  It was a great place for all your surfboard making needs.  Lots of Shapers and the goods to make your own. Worth checking out the next one is in San Diego in August.

Stormy Weather

I'm don't usually take pictures of clouds and ocean landscapes but after several days of heavy rain it was good to get out during a break in the storm. Once down at the beach I just couldn't help myself.  Making the most of what you are given I guess.
